Scott Erwin & Fiona Thompson

Scott Erwin is the Founder & CEO of HireHand. Previously, Scott was a Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey, where he specialized in labor optimization. Scott has a PhD in Theology from Oxford, where he studied on a Rhodes Scholarship and published "The Theological Vision of Reinhold Niebuhr's ‘The Irony of American History.’" Scott previously worked at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York and the U.S. Department of Defense in Iraq.

Fiona Thompson was an original HireHand board member and is now a non-board advisor. Fiona is interested in addressing social needs in sustainable and structural ways. Her interest in the issue of dignity at work led her to founding several companies that assist vulnerable people back into employment. She is passionate about HireHand’s innovative solutions addressing the emerging questions of work at a global scale, while providing dignity and viability for employees and employers. She studied politics, philosophy, and economics at Magdalen College, Oxford, and has worked for McKinsey, JP Morgan, and the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit.

HireHand is a London-based startup that connects businesses and people when they need each other most. They believe that the institution of work is not just an economic activity, but also core to human identity, and that this institution is presently under threat, especially in shift-based industries through increased automation and resulting fragmentation. HireHand solves the complex puzzle of staffing in this environment with their AI-powered matching algorithm and curated pool of skilled people looking for flexible work.
