Philip has transitioned out of leadership of Community Keepers, and remains on the board. He now leads Triga Ventures.
Philip co-founded Community Keepers and served as the CEO of this organization for 10 years. Philip is also a co-founder and non-executive director of Calling Education, an affordable, high quality schools’ movement. In 2017 he co-founded Triga Ventures, a South African non-profit organisation working to equip entrepreneurs in the building of redemptive ventures through their class leading Accelerator program.
Philip graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Stellenbosch University and a PhD in Social Development from the University of Cape Town. He was also a Visiting Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley School of Social Welfare and a Praxis Fellow in the USA. Philip and his wife, Reé, live in Stellenbosch, South Africa, and have three children.
Community Keepers was established in 2008 and delivers school-based psychological and social services to vulnerable children in South Africa. Children who utilize these services experience a direct improvement in their psychosocial wellbeing, leading to better academic performance, behavior and school attendance. Community Keepers aim to have 100 school sites by 2025 whereby they will serve more than 50 000 children per year.
